It will accelerate economic growth, act as a magnet for talent and promote community well-being.

The Precinct

Te Papa Hauora/Health Precinct will support the central city vision to become the thriving heart of an international city. It will add to the recognition of central Christchurch as a great place to invest, work, live and play and will become the hub of a vibrant, creative and inspiring network. It will be a place for people to gather, collaborate, share ideas and work together.

Te Papa Hauora/Health Precinct will increase productivity for Canterbury and will contribute towards the economic growth and social wellbeing of Canterbury and wider New Zealand.

Purpose

The development of Te Papa Hauora/Health Precinct is being guided by the Health Precinct Advisory Council which is a strong strategic partnership between University of Canterbury, University of Otago, Ara Institute of Canterbury (previously known as CPIT) and the Canterbury District Health Board (CDHB).

Each of the partners will grow the precinct through the contribution of people, resources and programmes that provide innovative outcomes for education, healthcare and health research and add value and vibrancy to the area.

Te Papa Hauora/Health Precinct will provide an opportunity for health professionals and researchers to work together, contributing on multiple levels to a bright future for individuals, industry and community.

Te Papa Hauora/Health Precinct will attract investment to the city and contribute to Christchurch being recognised as a leading destination for the public and private sectors.
